    Welcome, looks good!

    Alibaba or Ali-Express

My two cents: You are likely to get ripped off. China is currently persecuting Muslims, Christians, and any freedom loving people who will not adopt communist ideology and practices. Limiting financial support of the regime is always a good idea. Obviously neither the history of the machine...

    Mustard patina on pattern weld.

Looks nice, most people would not like a mustard patina on a hand forged damascus blade (it would hide the pattern), but whatever you think looks nice is good for your own knives!

VERY, VERY URGENT ACTION ALERT! EMAIL WA Senators TODAY to Support "Spring Blade" Ban Repeal Bill

Thanks, I did send the provided message to the senators. Two comments: Neither you nor I need permission from the government (either state or federal) to carry a knife. So let's not live like they have absolute control over all aspects of our lives - if we are doing what is right we should...

    Grinding position

I don't know, but I remembered this thread where he used a hammer with a cut up face, might be something similar? https://knifedogs.com/threads/austin-thrasher-photo-gallery-past-work-current-wips-etc.48409/page-2

    Folding Knife Blade to Fixed...

By trying to make a folding knife into a fixed blade you lose the specific purpose (ease of carry) of a folder and lose the specific purpose (strength) of a fixed blade, as you already know. Personally, I wouldn't make them into fixed blades unless they were to be whittlers or something along...

What's going on in your shop?

I'm excited for this one! Might be a while before I can get to it. Still design work to be done, but I think this is roughly what I want.

    How Many Knives at Once...

It is a lot faster to work with batches and in some respects you can dial in what exactly you want out of the knife. When I get a custom order I tend to make multiple of the same pattern in case I mess something up or the customer ends up wanting another one. On the other hand, I have a lot...

What's going on in your shop?

I've been doing this for D2/non-corrosion resistant knives with regular electrolyte for a bit now, I didn't know other people were too! My thought was that it would speed up the patina process, pretty much like a mustard or ferro etch.

Thank you, the drawknife was made out of an old nicholson file. The person I received it from had annealled it. I quenched my first try in water and it cracked. I treated this one like 1080, quenched in canola oil and it got hard enough for my purposes.
