    Nova Scotia knife makers...??

I know of Donald Bell(Bell Knives), and Peter Wile, but that's about it. Are there others I'm unaware of? I'd love to get in touch with just such a "seasoned pro", open a portal to the inner sanctum of Canadian Maritime knife making, and maybe gleen a tip or two. Any thoughts would be...

    Epoxy Resin

I've built a few strip canoes over the years and have used both West Systems and System Three epoxies with great results both. One product I'm interested in is System Three's "G2" epoxy.... http://www.systemthree.com/store/pc/G-2-c30.htm "G-2 is an epoxy glue for oily, acidic hardwoods...

    Chico Zapote....

.....the wood. Anyone know anything about this stuff? I've had a nice block of this wood for some time now and just cut/cleaned it up a bit(I'd post a pic if I had batteries). Lovely red/brown color, a bit of figure, and likely the heaviest, hardest wood I've ever held. Absolutely incredible...

How do you set prices when you are new? a discussion..

I live in a region where the "custom" knife market is nearly non-existent..... as far as I can tell. "You do what?" "Well, that's interesting!" "I didn't know there was such a thing." Those, of course are the comments received when I explain that I make knives. This is a region with...

I have been waiting so long to see how this is done. I love this style of sheath(and knife) and, in my eyes, your work represents the epitome. Thank you soooooo much for posting this.

Alistair - You do some very handsome, clean work and this one is just perfect in my eyes. Please consider doing more fixed blades.

    How Do You Dye Epoxy?

I use either printer ink or India ink if I want the epoxy to retain its shiny translucence. Alternatively, for black, I've used fine ebony wood dust and coal dust to obtain a flatter, more opaque look.
