    Bjmac! I hope, you don´t mind, that I altered your immage a bit. I thought that knife needs a different clippoint. You should try to get a crisper transition from the blade to the ricasso. Just my two cents. And yes by all means, finish this knife. Good success! Cheers Canesplitter

    First Hamon

    Thanks guys for all the good advice. Yes I would have loved to see the hamon a bit further up the blade. I was experimenting a lot with different heats, quenching oils and the like. I wrecked 4 blades beforehand. This was the first decent hamon I got out of my attempts!

Pumice comes in different grades (fine, extra fine etc) I use tung oil mixed with turpentine from the turpentine tree as a thinner. Then add just a tad of pumice to the mixture.     May I jump in here and ask: How do you adjust the pressure on the blade from the bolsters so that the blade can still move nicely but does not wobble sideways?
