Bushcraft Knife WIP

That's on my list of builds, I want to give them as gifts, but I want to make sure I do them perfectly first, and put a makers mark on them, "Helps establish a future customer base"

What are your plans to do that? Are you going to do a few prototypes first?

Yes, prototypes, I have a pretty good idea of the blade profile I want. I’ll probably go with approx 1/8” thick on the spine. I also want to mess around with using some sort of metal piece in the handle to use to hold the spindle when making fire with a bow drill... still haven’t quite decided what steel I want to use yet. Bush crafting and hunting is what sparked an interest in making my own knife

I saw a bushcraft knife recently that had a metal cup in set into the scale material. You got me thinking.

I’ve given it some quick thought - would it work to do a chamfer in the steel tang and then drill the scale to match?

Looks really good... but I got a fever for more butt flare baby lol ... I really am gonna experiment with it more. I think the experimentation is my favorite part of this new knife making life. Good job!

Especially if you use 416R pins and get them nice and tight and can hide them it would look even nicer. couple that with a 1/16" Stainless liner I and maybe with purple heart wood scales. I think it would be very refined looking
