using .187" CPM154 This has been surface ground to get the scale off. I hate taking scale off. I had a couple patterns hanging that I have been wanting to remake for a long time. I grabbed both and decided on the slightly bigger one.
my 4"x6" band saw is set up to sit on. You can see I changed out the thin stamped metal table for a 3/8" steel plate. It's very solid and acts like a heat sink to boot. There is a chunk of giraffe bone laying there from an old project. I always use a push stick since I sunk the end of my finger into the blade one time and cut it to the bone. That smarts when you do that.
All three rough cut. I will not make them exactly identical to each other or to the pattern. They will be close enough.
I use a Blaze 40grit to shape/profile the blade. I am using a 8" wheel here on my KMG. It is an old wheel but it still works just fine. I just shape to what I like. I completely ignore the pattern lines now.
