Two Birds With One Stone WIP

For my 100th post I would like to start a WIP. I needed to make a knife for a KITH on another forum and I needed to make something with the Kirinite I won from here. Thanks Boss. I figured I would kill 2 birds with 1 stone so to speak.
I started with a 1 1/4" by 1/8" 1084 from Aldo. I then profiled and heat treated it.

Next i ground my bevels on my homemade jig.

Next I drilled my scales, pinned them together and finished the front face. Here it is dry fitted

Then it is time to glue it up. I used gorilla glue and waxed the front face of scales to help with glue removal.

I then let it dry ovennight before peening the pins and grinding it to to shape.

More pics tomorrow hopefully

Here is where I started this morning

And here she is ready to be sharpened and a sheath made. I had to sand the blade a little which messed my maker's mark up a little.

And a different view,

On the next one i think ill drill a line of holes in middle instead of a slot so it can't slide
Here you can see a blade in the jig

Here is a pic of how the bolt in the slot supports the blade. It can be adjusted up or down to level out blade

The holes that hold the blade to jig should be exact same distance from center slot so that each side will index the same. I used 4-40 nuts and bolts as they were the biggest size locally that would fit thru my 1/8" pin holes. My platen is adjustable so I use it to set the bevel angle but you can simply drill and tap the back of angle iron to adjust the angle using a nut to lock it in place once set. Hope this helps and makes sense.

Thank you so much for sharing that is a great looking knife. I usually am not into artificial handles but that kirinite looks pretty sharp.

I want to eventually make something like that, currently I just cut a 2x4 at whatever bevel angle i want to grind and hold the knife on with a small c-clamp
