Been getting all my bait ready for the spring knife show down in Eugene this weekend. Anymore I look at doing shows about the same way as I do fishing. Hopefully I'll have a good report in a few days.

Have a great show Ray!

Why don't you take your camera and shoot some pics for us?

BTW, are you going to post pics of those boxes???

Eli, I tried and they just didn't come out well. Hopefully someone that's a better photographer will take some and send them to Wayne and I. I'm planning on bringing my camera to the show but that doesn't mean I'll remember to use it. I did charge the batteries.

I'm kinda bored so I'll try again.

Eli, Here you go. Not the best photo's but there the best I can do. I just took a photo of one box and one knife since they both are the same. My good friend Wayne Goddard made the boxes. The box has a myrtle wood top with black walnut making up the rest. The knife has a 1095 blade, iron fittings, and a snake wood handle.

Ray, My wife and I are heading north tomorrow to take in the show this weekend. We stopped by your table the last couple of years and caught your forging demo last year, or the year before, can't remember which. We'll stop by again and say Hi. I heard the show is open on Friday for OKCA members. Is that a good day to attend, or is it more of a set-up day for you exhibitors? Mike

Wow I almost forgot about the show being this weekend. Thanks for the reminder Ray. Hopefully my dad and I will make it down. This sound like one I'd regret missing.

I love the knife. Nessmuks are some of my favorites and you capture the shape like no one else I've seen.

Mike, If you are an OKCA member Friday is pretty much like the Saturday and Sunday Show. There maybe a few missing then but its worth coming to. I didn't do the forging demo last year but I will be doing a forging demo just on Sunday at this years show.

Peter, I guess that knife does have a little Nessmuk look to it. Never really noticed that before. Glad I reminded you of the show. Looking forward to seeing you Dad. Guess his back is all healed up now.

Good looking knives and cases Ray.
I think the show is going to be a good one this year. Its been a long winter and the knife nuts are in record numbers. Are you going to try your stink bait again this time? hehe

Bruce, This year I'm using a new table cover that has sensors built into it. Everytime a knife is lifted off the table an air horn will go off that I can hear from every corner of the building. That way when I'm scouting the show for things I need I won't miss a nibble. Just need to set the hooks. I also heard everyone in Eugene got an early tax return and they will all be at the show. 2thumbs

See you tomorrow! I'm heading south today.

Mike, Probably best to get there a couple hours after they open the doors. I figure most that are there doing the show will be pretty well set up by then. Have a safe trip!

Ray

I hope the show is a huge success, I wish I could make it, but can't this year. I've got several knives from the saw blade, have not HT'd them yet. Been busy getting ready for a little show here in the area. Have fun at Eugene.

Thanks Chuck! I did forge a little blade from the saw steel earlier this week. It sure forged like it was good steel. Felt pretty stiff under the hammer. I'll mess with it more after I get back home. Have fun at your show!

We'll see you at the show on Saturday, Ray. I am bringing a young lad with me who is fast becoming a knife lover. He wants to meet you and see all the knives and knifemakers.

Went Springer fishing yesterday. One nice 18 pounder for the three of us fishing. I didn't catch it, but I got to eat part of it. Yum!

Yeah, Eli, I heard Ray landed three nice ones! Perhaps he'll tell us about them after he recovers from the show.

Here's one of my favorite pictures from the show. This is the fellow across the isle from me. :D This pretty face will certainly wake you up during a long knife show. It is now twice in a row that Dave has won Best Fighter and I'm just not sure what's with this Bruce Bump.

These were 3 or the 4 knives I entered in the knife judging.

Seemed like a good crowd at the show and I think there were several ways to get into the show for free so at least the people got into look. I really believe the economy affected the fishing.

Here's a couple pictures of my table.

You need a bigger table --- and one with a better view across the aisle :D

Congats on such a successful show, the awards are well deserved, to say the least.

I agree with Eli about the table issue. :D

Ray, it was great chatting with you at the show. Seeing your knives in person was worth the trip up. Congrats on all the awards too. Mike & Stephanie

While in Oregon we took a drive and ended up at Watson Falls, short hike, pretty place...

Mike, Glad I got to meet you and Stephanie. I really think being in Oregon in the spring is the best time to see the sights. Especially the falls that need water to make them special.
