I am in a mood to start using some of the random materials that I have been hoarding over the years.

I have a 5" x 34" x 1/4" slab of D2 that needs to get used up, some 5160, some 1084 and um.... I can't think of anything else right now, but I am sure there is some more stuff out there.

Oh yeah, I have a big piece of M4 High Speed tool steel.

I am thinking about taking this stuff to school and cutting it up on the giant band saw and grinding fixed blades out of them... What do ya think? Anyone want to see me make like 50 fixed blades? cool 1

Model 1? Model 2? What?

Here's the D2 I'm talkin about...

I just realized that I have about 150 pounds of steel that is just sitting there..... If I ever want to move, I need to lighten the load! ;)

Les, if you want you can send me a hunk of that M4 and I can try to fivure out hiw to use it.

Trouble with the M4 is that it's 4 x 30 something and already heat treated! :(

I would not want to be the one to try and work with this since it is heat treated already.

Les that would be great. It would be nice to see a few fixed blades from you.

yeah and A2, why did I buy A2?

Not like I dont have more than a few fixed blades to be finished up as it is...

That big piece of D2 is a lot easier to box up now...

Maybe I'll even put wood handles on some of them?

I have more than one red container, be careful what you ask for! :)

Yeah, when dealing with Les you might end up with something that goes "BOOM" that he forgot he had.

Come on Murph, that almost ever happens.... But it gives you something to think about when you get that box from me in a day or 2.... ;)

04-02-2010, 11:24 AM
I'd try using the Iraqi mine sweep method to remove the box from he mail box, but I don't think a shovel will fit in my mail box.

I'd recommend running a "death blossom," just to be safe....

Les- Yes on the wood,.. so underused and underrated these days on fixed tac styles,..
Should even surprise yourself at how nice some will look that you didnt think lent themselves to a wood grip.
Cant wait to see what turns up.

These CPM 154 two are different from the rest, thumb grooves, 2 tone blade finishes. These blades are part of a run I did last year for some Jarheads. cool 1
