While I'm on my lunch break I thought I would post some pictures of a hunter set I made last fall for an old friend. Randy and I have known each other since jr. high when his family moved in down the street. He's bought a couple of hunters and used them in the last 20 years, but he wanted one with mammoth ivory. Nights in the hunting lodge with the other elk hunters gives you time for stories and bragging! He also asked for a folder to go with the fixed blade.
Blades on both are CPM-D2, flat ground and hand finished. Guard and bolsters are bronze. The liner on the fixed blade and those on the folder are 17-4PH stainless steel. And yes, the stainless works well for the side lock on the folder. Paul Long made the sheath, and as usual it was nice.
I don't make many hunters, usually just one a year (for a local rehab clinic as a fund raiser).
Comments are always welcome.
