That's a nice piece and I think the extended nail nick adds a bit more charecter to it.

Did you treat the blade somehow to darken it or is that just the lighting?

It is a 400 belt finish - but looking darker? It is the lighting.

I figured it was the lighting, but I've seen a few knives recently with a ferric chloride etching and wasn't sure if you had done something like that.

I like the new style nail nick, I thing that rectangular edges of the nail nick might be something worth trying.

I agree, I like the longer pulls better when they are squared off.

The only issue with a longer pull is if it is too thin and too square it can torque your thumbnail as it is opening. A standard nail nick give space for your thumbnail to rotate as the blade is opening. I love the look though.
