Hi Ray!

Don't know if you remember me or not. I'm the guy that you referred to
Mike's Secondhand store in Estacada for some drag saw blades. This was
a couple of summers ago when the Blade West was still in operation!

Anyhow, I've finally gotten back into doing some bigger blades and, due to
my eye-sight (I'll use that as my excuse :)) I am having one bear of a time
keeping my blades straight.

Do you have any jigs or methods, other than just the ol' proverbial "eye-balling it"
for this? I work the blade as best I can on the face of the anvil but always
seem to end up having re-re-straighten the next day after the dog-gone
blade's been annealed!

Thanks a bunch!

Dana, I do remember you. Mike gave you a really good deal on your drag saw blade. Something he has never done for me. :D I have tried over the years to come up with something besides the eyeball but so far the eyeball remains number one choice. I believe Goddard shows a straightening jig in one of his books. Is that something you have tried?

Your memory works better than mine :)......I lay my hammer down to fetch a different
tong and forget where I put the hammer!

I have Wayne's $50 knife book but that's about it. I'll peruse that book to see if I
can locate something in it. Thanks for pointing me in Wayne's direction.

BTW: I still haven't gotten to make anything out of that drag saw blade, yet:o

Thanks again, Ray,
Dana

You gotta be special to get a Deal out of Mike(I can't even do it even with my innocent face :D) That's quite the store he has there.

Yeah, Peter, I love that place. I could spend hours just scouring the place.
I'd like to visit that place the next time I'm in the area.

I think the reason I got a good deal was because my wife chatted quite a while
with Mike's. Otherwise, I'd probably be in the same boat with Ray :)!

Dana, Did you find the straightening jigs?

I did not but I might be looking in the wrong place/direction. I've
thought about welding up a stand for my big Indian Chief post vise
and then just cranking it down on that blade 2thumbs.

Thanks for checking in on me!
