Finally got around to making sheaths for these. I am very please with the way the whole project turned out. The effect of the tortoise shell celluloid on the gold leaf is absolutely amazing like forced air through hot coals. As for the belt clip, I wanted to try something a little different and more user friendly. Simply depress the lever with your thumb and slide the clip where you want it, belt, pants pocket, coat pocket, even the front of your shirt and you don't bust your a$$ or tear up your fingers as with many boot and belt clips.

Hope you like the results.

Stunning! I have some sim tortoise that I picked up at the Jantz table at Blade a couple of years ago. Now I'm inspired to see what I can do with it.

What type of adhesive did you use between the leaf and the celluloid?

Thanks Andy there is no adhesive. The back of the celluloid is highly polished and pinned on the tang with dead soft 18 kt gold pins. The gold leafing is applied to the tang with metal leaf sizing and sealed with a clear coat.

Thanks! It looks fantastic. When I get around to using that tortoise, I'll follow that procedure with high hopes.
