Wish I could be there, but I'm in classes this week and will be gone for the weekend as well. I leave Monday for NTC and won't get home til just before BLADE. I'll I'll miss the weekend before Nadine and my 5th wedding anniversary and BLADE is the weekend after. I think I need to stay home this year after being gone for so long.

I'll get in touch with you when I get home. I want to see about marking something off of my "wish list". I found a pic of almost exqctly what I want in one of your photos the other day. Hmmmmmm, a Rockeye with a false edge, Ti bolsters, and linen micarta scales.

I can not get a good pic of the moku-ti! :(I wouldn't exactly say that - these pics got my attention :D

I find photographing damascus in general difficult because when you shift the camera and/or piece ever so slightly, the damascus looks completely different. Lighting / controlling of is very important. As you probably also don't have a pro photography studio, here's what I do:

1. Place the knife against a white background, just to help the camera nail the colors down.
2. place the camera on a tripod, set the camera mode to 2sec delay (removes any possible shake) and adjust the angles of the knife an camera 'till you like what you see.
3. Take a translucent sheet (I happen to have a kite made in white ripstop nylon but you can get away with wax /baking paper or similar) and hold it up until it is between the light source and the knife. The damascus pattern will be highlighted completely differently! Choose the highlight you like best.

That moku-ti looks great... but I like the stag handle in the background better myself. As you said once.."old...very old school."

Have a great show and have fun Bud.:s11798:

I can't take it anymore. My curiosity of what is going to happen at the Bomb Squad/EOD Knives Seminar is killing me. I can't wait for the YouTube video of it. I'm gonna load up and drive to Atlanta and see it in person.

Les,
Can we at least count on some live demonstrations?
I know they cut up poor defenseless water bottles in the parking lot and although they are very sparkly, they just don't go boom.
Hey, I'm just askin...
Steve

PS. Do you know any good monkey stories?
