That is a fine looking piece & the stained wood gives the knife a nice rich look that pleases the eye.

Great looking folder. I have to agree with Ken that the burl gives the whole knife a great look.

I don't know? I buy it stabilized and just finish it....... huh1

Just my .02 but I've been told when you stabilize the maple the sugar in the wood is carmelized . This gives you the lighter to darker color depending on sugar content. I know to me most woods look neutral and then you stabilize it all kinds ofbeautiful colors come out.
