Secret Project #642 - Test results

OK, so maybe it's not much of a secret, but I think secret projects are more fun than normal projects... :)
I posted the Armaloy Rockeye a few months ago and at the NY/NJ show I finally got it into the hands of a tester, cuz I am generally lacking the attention span to really test something out..



I got this knife by Les George at the recent NY/NJ Show. It has a 4" 3V Blade with a new coating Les is trying out called Armaloy.
I 1st took pictures of what the knife looked like before I starting testing.

then I processed to chop thru a 1x2 piece of wood that I had laying around, after I chopped thru the wood,(Picture 4 thru 10) I then wanted to see if the knife would still cut paper which it did (pictures 11 & 12), and as you can see thru the photos there is no scratches or damage to the coating(Pictures 13 & 14). I then ran it thru a tire cutting test, I 1st sliced half way around a tire (Pictures 15 thru 19) and then I used the knife the next foot or so to punch thru the tire repeatedly over and over again(Pictures 20 & 21). As you can see the blade had some of the rubber on the coating(Pictures 22 & 23), so I took a little renaissance wax, clean it up(Pictures 24 & 25), ran the edge over a 1200 grit ceramic rod a few times and then sliced thru some paper(Pictures 26 Thru 28).
All in all I'm very happy with the Armaloy Coating and as you can see there are no marks what so ever on the Blade Coating...
This will be something I will be looking for on my next knife from Les.

l always liked the rockeye finally got one it's a great knife and this new blade material looks awsome. Held up well through the tests and still looked new. Guess I'll have to start saving up for this one.
