I found a old bbq/oven in my grandparents shed its made completely of iron the inside is lined with firebricks on the sides and bottom and has a sliding rack 2 feet wide by 1 1/2 feet long about 3-5 inches from the bottom. Also has a sliding door with latch in the front and a chimney and was wondering if it could make a good heat treating oven or should i build one from scratch?

Build one from scratch. The hard firebricks won't insulate and that is too big for an efficient oven.
