I'd found this tutorial over at British Blades yesterday. This morning I copied the first page and took it out with me to the shop. It sure helped me a bunch. Here's a link to the tutorial: http://www.britishblades.com/forums/showthread.php?22249-Scandi-Sheaths-My-Way

And here's my first try. I'd better get back out in the shop and get back at it before I forget what I had learned. Still more to do but this was the part that I was hoping to get.

Cool! I'm not brave enough to try something like that with leather yet. I screw up the simple stuff. That looks really good though. Are you going to do different color dyes in the spaces between the lines like in that tutorial? Kinda following a similar style as you have on the handle.

Peter, Not sure if I'm going to go with a multicolor. Really haven't given it much thought yet. These sheaths are actually pretty simple when you come right down to it.

Cool Ray. You gonna do the belt loop trick too?

I haven't even read the tutorial but I'm psyched! That's looking good Ray. What's really weird is that this is exactly what I'm planning to try to do for the sheath with my current knife (if I don't hose it beyond hope first). Thanks for the tutorial and I'll be looking forward to how this one goes for you.

Bruce, Yes I am working up to the belt loop trick. At last count I have 6 sheaths made and 4 more of this style to do and then its belt loop time.

Dave, Don't hose the knife. These sheaths are pretty simple after the first 100. :D

Well Ray, for what it's worth I did make a bad mistake on the handle of this knife. Going to have to do something harder now to cover it up... Sheesh. How's your sheath coming along? Looking forward to the finished pics!

Dave, Sorry to hear about the mistake you made. I've got a knife I need to either make a correction on externally or remove the butt cap and make a new one since it ended up off a little bit but other than that the sheaths have been going good. I got the pouchs made for 8 or 9 yesterday evening and plan to get going on the belt loops and final finishing today. All and all I have enjoyed doing this style sheath. Think I've worked out the bugs now. Its been fun and that's coming from a fellow that avoids it normally.

Yeah, I know how much you avoid sheath making! :) Maybe just doing something new is what makes it more interesting. It sure looks like fun to me. I'm really looking forward to seeing the whole package when you're done.

Dave,

I got the first two done. Still more to go and the interest and excitement seems to be leaving.

Been out fishing almost the whole day. Pretty beat but I did catch around a 20 pound chinoon salmon. Hope to take a few pictures tomorrow of more sheaths. Got a couple more done and more on the way.

Ray, congrats on the 20 pound chinoon salmon. What is a chinoon salmon anyway?
Those sheaths turned out great! They go good with that style of knife.

Marvin, Now I know why you weren't a stand up comic.

Bruce, Chinook salmon are the largest salmon that I know of. There also called "King Salmon". Almost like catching a 20 pound bar of gold with a tail on it. :D

Here's a few more I have complete. Running out of room on my storage so I need to do some trashing. I took pictures of each knife in the sheath, maybe later.

Great knives and sheaths, Sven. You'll have to work on an accent before you go to Boise.
