One nice thing about the internet is getting to meet people you would normally have not met. My friend Bruce sent me a box with several pieces of native wood a few months ago. The first piece I chose to try is called Miniritchie. I think it was the dark color that attracted my eye at first. After closer examination I started noticing some curl which perked my interest even more. Here's a few pictures of the finished knife. I've never see a wood that is so night and day difference according to the light source. First two pictures were taken using my normal picture taking set up. The last picture was taken in the shade outside on a bright clear day. The knife has a 3 1/2" saw steel blade, iron fittings with the Miniritchie handle. 7 1/4" overall.

WHOAH!! That is crazy! Love the knife as usual. I wonder why the light source makes such a difference in the appearance of the wood. Sure looks nice.

Nice looking knife Ray. It's crazy how the light changes that wood. I have never seen that before.

I traded Bruce a few black berry vines for a few seeds.:D I think I have enough of the Miniritchie for one more knife handle. Bruce may bring me a couple more piece when he comes here for the Boise Show in November. I think the curl in the piece I have now is very unusual.
