...what if I was to put out a frame lock folding knife with a CNC ground blade in the $300 weight class.

all the final fitting and detail work done by me, but all of the heavy lifting done by computer numerically controlled machining.

Would something like that interest anyone? :52: :les:

Put a number on it and count me in for one #1.

I know you make a high quality product and that you would refuse to stamp your name on anything which did not meet your personal standard. I'm game for one. Can I have mine made from CTS-XHP?

08-15-2010, 02:21 PM
I wanna see one!

08-15-2010, 02:59 PM
Build it Les and they will come to steal a phrase from Field of Dreams.

I would bet money on these.

I'd like to see one. I'm sure you wouldn't put your name on a less than quality product.

I am thinking CTS-XHP Murph, get outta my head!!!!!

Les George

and a 3.25 inch blade (ish)

08-15-2010, 06:21 PM
Want me to design it for you too? I'm much better at designing than I am grinding. I promise!

Les George

way ahead of you

08-15-2010, 06:58 PM
G-10 w/CF bolsters and Ti liners or Ti frame lock?

OK, I went back and read the first post. I guess I should have paid attention to the "frame lock" part of the description.

08-15-2010, 08:41 PM
A hard user for sure with that steel. I am down!

08-15-2010, 09:34 PM
flipper? That would be excellent.

08-15-2010, 11:03 PM
Les, that would be nice, especially if the CNCing allowed you to explore new possibilities. For example, a flat grind.
Although I wonder if doing the handle by hand is not a more time-consuming task than grinding the blade...

Les George

I am thinking flat ground

08-16-2010, 06:47 AM
At that price, I'm sure you will have a hard time keeping them in stock. You will have one heck of a knife for the masses. What kind of blade thickness are you thinkin? And will this possibly be a flipper? I'd be down for one. Don't know where I'll get the money, but I'll get it.

I'm not gonna give up too much just yet, but I am starting to think flipper and probably .160 thick steel (same as the Cerberus)

This project is still pretty far out on the horizon, I'm just thinkin out loud here folks...

CTS-XHP makes really nice knifes.

08-16-2010, 09:42 AM
OK Les, quit teasin us and get your butt in the shop and get to work. I want #1.

08-16-2010, 10:01 AM
Yes....Flipper. With Ken Onions new Midtech and now this I'm going to have to find a second job.

BTW...Did you just win the lottery? CNC's aren't cheap and considering how low you price your customs.....

no lotto, but I have take up some male modeling gigs. I now get to eat 4-6 times a week! :)

PLEASE don't post pics, this is a G-rated forum!

About the knife... I'm no expert on folders but I suspect your style, name and hand-work on a mid-tech knife would generate a good deal of interest. I say go for it.

I LOVE your work!! If I could afford it, I would buy it!!!

I am dying for one of your ESR's!! Oh baby......

Dunno how I overlooked this thread earlier this week, but if orange G-10 scales would be optional, and you go w/flat ground on the blade, I'd sign up today, too, despite the likely threats of divorce from my wife.

08-21-2010, 09:09 AM
I'd be interested in one,

but I'd keep tha male modeling stuff to myself:what!:

BLADE Show??? What the heck??? Get off your butt and get to work Les. I need a Christmas present for myself. :D

Then I guess you will have to settle for a Talos. ;)

Then I guess you will have to settle for a Talos. ;)

Some of us would settle for something a bit "old fashioned" in the George line, like, say, a small Rockeye w/orange scale and titanium bolster, just pulling one example out of thin air for giggles.

Les, do be sure to let us know when you get caught up and can take orders again.

Still, I doubt a Talos would be settling for any of us. Problem is, right now, you've got too many different ideas for too many cool projects for one guy to handle; you just need to go ahead and take all that male modeling money and spring for a small factory and make high end, handmade production folders.

You have NO IDEA how right you are! :)
