I've had a KMG Rotary Platen for a few years now. I typically use it for sharpening knives and convexing the tip on my tantos. I recently finished grinding my first zero edge convexed blade. This accessory is amazing. I couldn't have ground such a fine blade without it. Thanks Rob! Pics of the progress are in my subforum.

I did some fillet knives that just rocked with the full convex I got on them.

Thank John! Where is the subforum with the progress?

Yes, the Rotary platen does an amazing job on edge geometry. A few years agao, I spent some time down in Arkansas at JR Cook's shop with him and Jerry Fisk....both "Living Treasures". Jerry showed me how he uses the RP to develope his edges and commented that the RP has allowed him to create edge geometry better than has has ever been able to produce before.

I agree, the rotary platen is my favorite attachment. I recently finished a large cleaver/santoku style chopper for my kitchen.
It's here if you want to peek. (http://knifedogs.com/showthread.php?10327-Pokechoppa!)

The convex edge from the 3/16" steel makes quick work of whatever is in front of it. Thanks Rob for making this tool available!!

Oh, Nice chopper John!!
