Well here is my first knife. It is made from hardened planter blades.

GREAT looking first knife! Only an inch or so of my first looked that good! :eek:
Give us a bit more detail:
Length, scales, etc, etc, etc...

I do feel compelled to ask if you put a welt in the sheath ?
It could just be the pic but I thought I'd mention that a sheath without a welt is VERY dangerous !
Again GREAT work on that knife !

looks good. now its time to get out and use it. lets us know how it performs.
Thank you all for the kind comments. the knife is 6.5" long overall, with 3" blade. Scales are beautiful Redwood burl from Burlsource.

As i am still new to knife making and dont know, what are the dangers of not having a welt? That particular sheath did not have one. Right now i am making a new one for it, that is more of a pouch type sheath.

The danger of no welt is there is nothing to protect the stitching from being cut when inserting and removing the knife. Or even if you were to take a fall while wearing it I suppose an awkward stress like that could easily push the blade right between the front and back splitting the stitches.
