I've seen a lot of 2X4 cutting competitions but I ain't never seen nutten like that. It usually takes 'em a dozen or so swings.
Can you do it again?

here is a pic I took today.
This is my coarse comp knife.
10” blade 2” wide
5” handle 15”OAL flat grind bevels with a demon grind with a flanged tip for weight distribution. This knife weight 28ozs I have used this knife for my last three competitions including the world championships at Blade show this year.
Sorry I didn’t include the Official time in my first post. 1.21s

thanks sounds fun
I actually take one of my comp knives with me when I go get fire wood. It works great for clearing branches and I don’t have to were earplugs.

Thanks I glad you liked it.
I film myself when training for competition and I have a hand full of videos where I was able to cut the board in three hits.

I've gotten to the point that I have slowed down on watching the cutting competitions. If you are not a competitor, after a while they seem to be about the same. I sure am sorry that I missed the one at Blade this year an see what you did there. I'll be sure and watch next time.

We also have a new 2x4 derby that is almost as much fun to watch as it is to participate. I really think the crowds will really like it.

Totally Insane!!
Dan - impressive!
What's a flanged tip though?
Dan Keffeler
06-23-2010, 11:10 AM
It is where the tip is left wider. I use it to distribute weight and change the balance point of the knife.
Here are som pics of the tip. there not great qlty but i think they will do
Dan
Your photos are like mine Dan - focussed on the things I'm not photographing! :D
Is that tip legal then? I thought it was a 'no bulges or swells'?
Dan Keffeler
06-23-2010, 03:33 PM
No bulges applies to the primary bevel , false edged and grinds along the spine are not limited.
Cool. That bit always had me a bit confused!
