OK ive been making custom knives for the past year or so and have a decently equipped shop with a drill press 2x72" grinder bandsaws etc and I want to push myself and try a balisong! Only problem is not sure how to make one. Is their a decent guide somewhere that can guide me. :31:

It's difficult to find great bali making tutorials out there... and everyone does things slightly different. There used to be a decent tutorial from Terry Guinn on EDCKnives.com. It looks like it has been vanished... at least I couldn't find it anymore. Ruben Calo has a basic bali tutorial on his site. Some guy named Chtorr has a tutorial (written in Czech) HERE. I've made a few balisongs myself (but am by no means and expert)... you can find some simple - if incomplete - WIPs HERE and HERE. I show the use of a small mill (equipped with DROs) for my bali work, which may not be useful to you. I'd be happy to provide you with any info that I can based on my limited experience.

Edit: I also posted some progress shots of a bali sporadically on pages 6-14 of THIS THREAD.

Thanks! Reading thru them now. I was actually looking to order a small mill this morning and now really wanting to now!

There are plenty now of balisong tutorial.

I did myself more or less 4 of them. Terry Guinn did Two, Chtorr did one, Ruben Calo one too.

Feel free to ask if you don't find what you need in the how to. I have done more or less 100 balisongs :D

Yeah Im working on some designs while I wait for my mill and lathe which should come in this week. The bearing thing looks interesting but probably too complicated for a first try.

Well I think Im gonna look around at more balis and figure out what I want to do exactly then wait for my lathe and mill to be delievered. SHould make things alot easier.
