Thoughts on the Ferdco 440 R

I recently purchased a Ferdco 440R, and I was wondering if anybody has any experience with this machine. Thank you, A.H.
 
That's a non-walking foot sewing machine? How does it work with 2 or 3 layers of 8 oz leather for sheaths?
