Shield Engraving

OK. happy camper here. I just got an order for 5 matching slip joints with shields :biggrin: Customers wants me to monogram each one with his and his sons initials.

I want to make sure I don't have any troubles with the shield and engraving. The few I have done, I put a drop of thin ca in the pocket just before I tapped the shield in place and haven't had any issues. do I need to worry about the shield getting tapped loose when I have the knives engraved? is there something I need to do to help prevent this from happening?

I pin my shields in place. I would worry about an engraver causing the shield pop out,unless it was going to be scratch engraving. I worry about shields coming out during everyday use as well.

Some people solder a pin to the back of the shield. That way the pin doesn't show.
