Painting bare metal question

Good afternoon Dogs! I just ordered a stand for a portable bandsaw and considered painting it when it arrives. A thought popped in my head (dangerous I know ;)) on etching it prior to paint. Since its common practice to bead blast blade handles for superior adhesive performance, what do you think about using some PCB etching solution on metal before paint? Would this help or am I just spinning my wheels?

I wouldnt, PCB etchant will promote rust if you dont neutralize it all after etching. Just wipe it down with acetone, primer it and paint it and your good to go.
I have used PCB etchant on a few items and had them rusting up a storm the next day, Seems I didnt neutralize them well enough after removal from FC.

I took your advice and just used some hi-temp spray paint after an acetone bath. I think it turned out pretty good.

Wow, looks fantastic. I really need to get a SWag stand for a portaband I have sitting around. Might get more use that way.
