I have an old 2x42 belt sander (this model has a 1 hp motor and 3 wheels instead of 2.)
I was using it this morning and decided to take a break came back about an hour later and it will not turn on. I tried 3 different sockets and they work with anything else plugged in.

Any advise on what to do with it or where to take it is much appreciated.

Cameron,
It could be the brushes in the motor. Good thing is you can order craftsman parts onling. Might be cord connections at the motor. If you have a meter see if the motor is getting electricity.

+1 on the reset button, but if it trips repeatedly check for deeper problems.

If you spin it after turning it on, does it take off? That could signal a bad starting capacitor.

Any buzzing/humming noises when it is turned on?

Any sign of a break in the power cord?

If it is not enclosed, there is probably metal inside the motor housing, either blow or vacuum it out and it should be fine. You will need to do it constantly though as it will continue to grab the dust. That's what happened to my my old belt/disk sander that I was using for knives. It lasted for about 2 years before the dust took it's toll and blew the motor.
