These are my first 2 ever and they have gotten my brain into overdrive with ideas and wanting to learn more and more!

Materials might not be the greatest for knives, but I wanted to learn what what I already had, before spending more $$$ on metal.

I am learning leatherwork at the same time, and made both sheaths 100% on my own as well.

#1 Skinner
steel from walmart machete
scales are red oak ( i know its WAY porous)
pins are 1/8" steel rod
stained with automotive red candy color, reduced 50% for drying

I'm hooked already! I already have my next blank drawn out and will hopefully get to cut it in the next few days.

Now there is still time to quit!!!! But I think think the hook is embedded too deep. You are off to a good start!!! Keep up the good work!!!

the point of no return has long-since been passed... :) I cut out my next blank this morning already. Hopefully between kids, wife, work, jiu jitsu, kids, and sleep; I will have something presentable by this coming weekend. IF I can get this one just the way I want it, it will be my model for the knives I am making to give away as Christmas presents this year.
