Leather Sheath Making WIP

I had to make a sheath today for a knife that's going to a neighbors son for his birthday. I decided to try this method and I liked the way it turned out. I'm still not real good at my sheaths, having made about 20 keepers and probably that many more than I've scrapped. One thing that I would do different is to skive the upper end of the belt strap where it attaches to the sheath. I used some thick leather I had for the strap so maybe using lighter weight leather wouldn't make the end so noticeable.

Here's the finished product. Thanks again for a great WIP.

Cool, that turned out great! Yeah, sometimes I skive the belt strap. Like you said, it depends on how thick the leather is. Lately I've wanted to have sort of an overbuilt look so I leave it thick. I should have mentioned that I do that sometimes, but on this tutorial I wanted to keep the number of tools down. Although you can do it with a knife if you want. Glad someone was able to use this info so quickly :thumbup1:
