inlay help needed

Can someone please help me with information on how to make inlays in the backspacer. Are the inlays glued? What kind of tools do you use to mill the grooves? How deep do they need to be?

I spoke with knifemaker Vernie Reed at the guild show last year about how he does his inlays and he said that he just makes a dovetail cut with files and lets the liners keep it in place on the side to side. I havent tried it yet but will be giving it a shot eventually.

Thanks Jaysmith10. I think that said alot.
I gave it a shot. It's really difficult to mill the groves clean.
I guess it'f a better idea to just use files.
