Hello from Oklahoma

Hey all, I am a new to the forging/Knife building process. Have been a welder for 30+ yrs of my life in the Natural Gas/Refining industries. Within those areas I have been subjected to lots of exotic metals, and lots of common mild steels. I am now a welding/equipment inspector for a large Midstream Gas company.

I am in the process of fabricating my first forge, and burners. And soon hope to be hammering on some steel. I hope to lean on the vets of the trade and accomplish a beginning in building knives.

Sounds like you need to go to the Oklahoma Custom Knife Show the first weekend in March in Norman. http://www.theknifegroup.com/oklahoma_custom_knife.htm There will be some forging demo's and a bunch of great people who have built their own and started just as you have.

I plan to be there as an observer, learning as well!

You will meet two Master Smiths and at least two Journeyman of the ABS there. Brion and Ray will have the fire going.
