i have recently come across a knife i have never seen before. it has a tiny leather case with two brass posts on top that close what seems to be a tiny leather purse. The knife inside is a tiny folder. Smaller than anything i ever saw. I was told this was used by women in the 1920s for a fingernail file and predated manicure kits. Does anyone have any knowledge about such knives? I'll try to get a picture up soon. thanks:34:

When I was a youngster(and that was a while back), my Grandmother had a couple of small pearl handled folders a little over an inch long and she told me they were for cleaning fingernails. As I recall, they had pen blades and weren't very sharp at all.

It kind of sounds like that's what you might have come across.
