Dad found a box of my grandfather's folding knives this morning. All the usual suspects are there, including 2 Buck 110's. But one of them has the name upside down. ??? knockoff?

Sodbuster Jr with 8dots. That means 80's production, right? Anyway, I have since cleaned this one up and sharpened it, and it's going to ride in my left-front for a while. :)

Another Buck 301, to go with the other that dad gave me last year.

Big 2-bladed Western 062. The lack of a letter after the model should mean that this one is Pre-1973

5" bladed Camillus 9. I keep being drawn to this knife more than any other from the box. It makes me smile to know that over 13 years ago, my Papaw sharpened this knife by hand, and it is still shaving sharp with his own edge on it.

The whole box, minus some Frost and other cheapies...

A lot of classic models in that pile... many of which, unforanately, are no where near the same quality today, as the examples you have right there.

wow, what a great find. I could spend several hours just looking at them and wondering where they were..

You are absolutely right!!! I was going from memory on the dot-system and I was way off. :)

Looks like your dad found a treasure chest for you brother. Cherish it well as I know you will. I'm sure one day you will be passing these on as well and will enjoy the same smile your father did when he handed them to you.

That up-side-down buck is a neat knife. hold it up to a modern one and see how much they differ. That one may also be missing the liner on the backside that seperates the frame. If so one side of the frame will be thicker than the other ie... no need for a liner.

Papaw was an AWESOME dude!!!!!
Got to love a guy that bought great knives and used them! AND still had them to the end, I love it. And what a great find for you and your Dad, lots of memories can be caught up in a knife! Very easily, this inanimate object becomes a lot more than, "Just a knife". I know all too well! Thanks for sharing! Rex
