Just finished these two. Both have hand forged blades from a mill band saw that dates back to the 1890's. The larger one is 9" long with a 4 1/4" blade and the second one is 8 3/8" with a 4" blade. The handles are deer leg bone with rawhide and sinew wrap.
Any and all comments are welcome.

Well I like them. Really nice work on them.
How did you heat-treat them? What steal did you treat them as?
Boy, my question is clear as mud

Very good looking knives Wade!

Do you buy your rawhide and sinew from a supplier or harvest your own? If the latter, how do you prepare it before using it on a handle?

Very, Very nice, I love the bone,I've got a big Bowie just waiting on the right one. If I may, how did you color the bone? Thanks.....Randy

Thanks for all of the nice comments.

Deltashooter, I triple normalized and then heated to nonmagnetic and quenched in peanut oil. It harden real nice and the file skated beautifully.

Rick, I get my rawhide fromk Tandy because of convenience.

Randy, I use Fiebings leather dye, not the oil base. First I dye the whole thing black and wipe it off with a rag befor it dries, leaving it in the cracks and crevasses. Next I use the dark brown and let it dry and seal with Tried and True varnish.
