Bader grinder with Vacon control unit question

I am unsure of how to figure out the speed i am grinding at and if I am too fast/slow and what the ideal speed would be

I am using a Bader B-111 1 1/2HP grinder with they say a Nema control unit but the unit says Vacon on it. It has a volume knob/rheostat speed control and when i turn it up the digital counter can speed all the way up to 5000 though i havent ever used it at that speed. I am usually any where from 500 to 3000 when i am profiling blades. Is this read out in feet per second/minute or RPM's or what???

And dependent on what reading it is giving me what should i be hollow grinding my stainless blades at??

most of the steel i am working with is 1/8th and 5/32" thick

thanks

I don't know what the readout means, but it actually depends on the belts you are useing.Ceramic belts, like the Blaze or Norton norzon should be run as fast as you are comfortable with.As grit increases your speed should decrease.
