To all the experienced bladesmiths on here, I have a quick question. I'm just getting into knife making, and I wanted to know how important is annealing the metal before forging? I'm currently working on my first blade and already looking at doing my second out of wire cable. Would it be a bad thing if I just heat it to try and forge weld the wire or should anneal the cable first?
