I had to look at this several times as it is an interesting knife.

My thought is from the Philippines but the blade markings don't seem to be right for that. Maybe Vietnam/Cambodia/Thailand. This is only a guess.
The carved fern scrolls on the handle are unusual and hard to attach a location to.

A close up picture of the markings on the front of the blade would be helpful. The size is hard to judge from the photo. How long is it?

It doesn't look that old.
The one thing that immediately stands out is that it almost certainly appears to be a low value "tourist" type decorative knife.

I would be interested in hearing what this one is myself.

That brings back of flood of memories of a VERY similar sword that my grandfather used to have hanging on the wall. I wish I knew where he got it, or could ask him about it, but unfortunately he's in the pretty late stages of dementia/Alzheimer's right now. I think Tracy is pretty close with the guess about origin. If you do an image search for "Carved wooden sword and sheath" or something along those lines, you'll get several similar pieces. The first few I saw mentioned either Philippines or Vietnam. Likely a common piece found in tourist markets and what not.
