Gluing ebony?

I started a small chef knife for my brother...after drilling the pin holes I doubt there is a way to glue this stuff. The chips were waxy/greasy feeling.:les:

Is there a way to glue this stuff to metal?

Use a good epoxy like west systems g-flex or acraglas and you shouldn't have any issues. Personally, I'd steer well clear of any cheaper two part hardware store epoxy, though there will be some who have had no issues with those cheaper brands.

Make sure to rough up the backsides of your scales, or better yet, dimple them with an 1/8" drill bit (think the surface of a golf ball here) to give more surface area for gluing. You may also want to consider mechanical fasteners or peen your pins (though I'd be careful with that with ebony as it's quite brittle in nature to begin with).
