So I am an idiot... Steel question

So I was in a hurry and forgot to drill my holes before heat treat. What is the best way to anneal S35vn steel? I have never annealed an air hardening steel before.

I would just use carbide bits. But if you need to anneal do this. Heat to 1650 & hold for 2 hours, cool to 1100 no faster than 25 degrees per hour, then turn the furnace off and let it cool to room temp..

Yep, Darrin is correct (as usual) - note his process has the whole blade annealed, not just the tang. Not sure there is actually way to anneal just the tang on SS tangs.
