Knifedogs hammer in slip joint

I'm home today with a sick baby girl...no fun but she went down for a nap a bit ago so I got to sharpen this knife.

This is the slip joint I started at the hammer in. To be clear it was a water or laser jet cut blade, spring and liners provided by USA knifemakers. Under the supervison and instruction of Keith Johnson I did my best to grind and assemble it. Keith did a great job teaching I only wish I had more time.
My biggest fear on making it was peening the pins, which you can clearly see I failed at. I had to do this on my own because I didn't finish it on time at the hammer in for Keith to give me pointer. You can easily see the pivot pin and I only had 416 3/32 pins for the spring which I was advised would split..which they did.
I have a lot to learn on slip joints but feel I have the concept now just lack a bit in execution.

All comments welcomed especially on the pins.

You did really well. You learned a great deal and the finished product turned out nice. I bet you keep it forever.

You did just fine - looks good to me. You'll enjoying carrying and using that one.

Looks great Justin, I like it. Could you explain a little about the pivot area? I saw Jason Fry post one that was very similar too. Is there a metal sleeve around the pivot pin to make it stronger?

Anthony I wish I would have taken more pics before assembly but yes it is a stainless sleeve/bushing type deal that we counter bored into the scales and on the end that fits into the scales we filled notches so it will not rotate and glued it into the scales. When done right the 3/32 pin should disappear into it which mine does not.
Maybe Keith or another maker will chime in. I'm not for sure of its exact purpose if it is to allow you to peen the pin and swell it into the sleeve as to not risk cracking your handle material? Keith probably told me bit I forget.
