I was just reading today about Airkool steal. The place I was at didn't really have much to say it, does anyone have any experience with it or comment on the still itself and what is good for and what is not??

Airkool is simply Crucible steel's version of A2. A2 is an excellent all around steel for about any kind of knife. It has very good toughness and holds and edge well.

why is it called Airkool than do you not have to temper it in an oven?? or heat treat??

steel companies used to give their steel names. crucible would call O1 ketos, A2 airkool, D2 airdi 150. carpenter calls O1 badger, A2 select-B, D2 olympic. A2 is a general purpose tool steel that has become popular with smaller machine shops because it requires air quench rather than oil.
