What's going on in your shop?

Seems like no matter how hard I try my brain just wants that belly in the blade lol.

So true!! It just looks soooo right on paper, doesn't it?! Lots of people like a big belly for rocking... for people like me with poor technique I end up with a board full of accordion-ed bell peppers. That's why I was asking. It's a beautiful curve even it if it isn't right for me.

The big Chef is gorgeous. That thing looks downright perfect to me for how I would use it.

Been away from the grinder for over 3 months. I was nervous grinding this blade. 2nd slip joint. S35VN with a stonewashed finish.

Really want to go to the Little Rock knife show this weekend, but I figured that the money I would spend would be better used in the shop. Started putting up a French cleat wall system tonight. This room will be my primary knife making area with about 25 feet of wall like this. I really intend to be better organized in the future. I'm going to paint the cleats wall color so they'll blend in better and keep the room bright. Got a zillion screw holes to putty up tomorrow!

Man, I'm so jealous of you guys with these nice shops!

My "shop" is literally 14'x11' in my basement. Talk about cramped. Everytime I want to do 1 thing I have to move 3 things out of the way.

Found a local guy that has a stash of wood that's been sitting in his shop for a decade. Got some from him to try my hand at processing handle material. Pretty good haul for not having a clue what to look for or how to cut it.

What a great find! There are some good looking pieces in that group.

Nice wood! Getting the wife involved is a good idea! Mine is starting a website for me and doing my photography...Wives are WAY more understanding when you can't pay them than employees are....

You'll have some amazing handles there!

Just finished these up for a client..... First time I've done a multiple hollow grind on the pole of an axe......that's a bit tricky with a 3/4" wheel! :) I would have never thought of it....the client asked specifically for it.

Now I gotta get my butt in gear and get started on pieces for the Blade Show!

Ed, do those hollow grinds on "hammer" side of axe functioinal? OR - are they just decoration? Amazing looking axe.... Impressive. Looking forward to another visit at Blade this year. The wife says we're going since missing last year.

"Ed, do those hollow grinds on "hammer" side of axe functioinal?"

Only one way to find out Ken...Lol!

Those were specifically requested by the client. I would have never thought to do something like that, had the client not asked for it. When I was testing the hatchets, I can tell you that it will cause wicked damage to whatever gets whacked with it! :)

Thats some real fine work there Ed!

Completely not knife related but this is whats going on in my shop. Got this old gun I'm working over and this chip was bugging me, so I took a page out of John Doyle's play book and cleaned it up. I think it turned out nice and still has a traditional look.

Justin that turned out awesome. I have seen professional gunsmiths try to cover up damage like that. They never look that good.
