Converting shop machines to variable speed

Here's part two of a project I've been working on for quite a while. In this video I convert a band saw into a 3 phase machine using surplus parts found on ebay. Not too in depth, but should show you it's not hard to do. I've done this type of conversion on a drill press and a lathe in the past, might give you some ideas. I'll also put the part 1 of this project after it, in case anyone is interested in building a vertical bandsaw from a horizontal saw.

Man thats reputposed at its finest. Looks pretty slick. Thanks for the idea for when I get a shop

Man, that's good stuff Anthony. Sometimes I love the tools even more than the knife making. I have a Chinese Harbor Freight horizontal/vertical saw that I'm wondering how long it will last, now in see I have options. I also just had a 1hp portable compressor blow up(connecting rod to the compressor) on me, so I have a great motor now to install on my 2x72. Right now it's driven by a step pulley system but I can't put it on high speed because the motors isn't strong enough to drive it in that speed. Think I'll start looking for the VS controller, thanks for the tips, looks super useful and easy. Tools are always better when you can make them!
