This is a Camping Chopper I made for my son, blade length 9.5'' 80CRV2,LOA 14.5'', bolsters are silicone bronze with 410 stainless pins , handle is leather wrapped and Para cord covered. Any suggestions as how to make the Para cord more durable. IMG_3832.jpgIMG_3833.jpgIMG_3834.jpg​
 
Nice chopper Fred. I like the file work not something you see on alot of choppers. That's on my list of things to make in the new year and that's the steel I plan to use let me know how it holds up. What hardness did you go with?
 
Justin, heat treat to 1580 F ,10 min, hold oil quench, temper at 400 1 hr. twice , hope it 59 R if I did things correctly.
 
Thanks Fred, I don't have the set up yet for my own heat treat I was curious on what hardness a guy wants for a chopper.
