Here is what is quickly becoming one of my favorites. The handle material was purchased as Lacewood, however I am not certain about that. Perhaps someone can either confirm or properly identify the material. I included a pic of my help, lol.

1084 differentially hardened steel
8" OAL 3 /5/8" cutting edge
Lacewood (?) scales
Stainless Corby rivets
3.4 oz
 
Thanks Mr.Svinarich. I do not know why I had not considered that it might be dyed. I like the look of the wood a lot and though it seems to undercut quite easily, those areas provide some nice subtle texture for the handle.
 
reading more about the subject of lacewood, it turns black when being stabilized, or at least when stabilized at WSSI.
 
Lacewood vs Leapard wood

From my local wood guy tells me Lacewood is a generic name for a number of different species of wood that display that spotted pattern, Leopard wood being one of those species. Here is some Leopard wood I bought recently...

Left side has Tung oil right side is just sanded to 500 grit.
