Ferric chloride question

I have etched a blade black in ferric before and neutralized in boiling trisodium phosphate to neutralize and set it. My question is I want to do a quick dip to see how something looks but want to know if there is something quick that i can put on it that will neutralize the acid easily?

Mike is right, you can use Windex or straight ammonia. You can do as many cycles in the FC as you need to before you neutralize. You don't have to neutralize until the etching is complete.

I have been using a Baking Soda and water paste ever since I had some terrible bleed out on some knives that I "forgot" to neutralize....Great results with this method and cheap too...

Another vote for Baking Soda & Windex. I grab the old Baking soda out of the refrigerator and take it to my shop when my wife gets a new box about once a year. True repurposing!
