Pivots and damascus blades..

So what is the general accepted practice of a setting up the pivot when a folder uses a Damascus blade? I have some that I'm fixing to do, and I'm going to use bronze washers on the sides of the blades in between the liners. I was thinking I might take some clear fingernail polish and block the area that the washer touches during etch, but I'm not even sure if it is necessary.

Thoughts?

Yes that is necessary.
I'm assuming your talking about a liner lock folder. Mask off any part that comes in contact with other metal parts, under your washers, where your stop pin contacts in the open and closed positions and also the lock face on the tang.
By the way,I use red fingernail polish.

Yup, what they said. I've only made one folder with Damascus and I didn't mask off the detent track. Now, when ever I open or close the blade, it feels like it's scratching on something as the detent ball runs across the layers. Won't make that mistake again (I'll make different ones I sure LOL).
