I have a chance to buy a craftsman 1 hp dust collector for 80.oo bucks.
Its two bags and 20 micron .
Is this a good buy?
Should I not use it for metal because of the bags?

Thanks for any input .
(I already have the Mickley dust collection fan filter set up):D

I have a 1 hp jet brand. I didnt like the bag so I made it just blow out into the alley. Its mounted to the wall up high and has 4" pvc in the attic. I dont use sparks in it at all. I really like the fact that it takes wood, horn, antler and dangerous synthetic handle materials and blows them out back. For hot sparks I let them go into my water/coolant bucket.

Thanks Bruce.
This must be an odd unit people arent familiar with.

I dont like the idea of the bag either but running it outside is not an option.
Im thinking about making a box with replaceable furnace filters in it.

I don't have this type system, but am planning one right now. I had thought that I would have my exhaust blowing into a 55gal drum of water. Ive seen lids that are made for this. Anyone know how they are set up inside the barrel? Im planning on making mine from parts I already have. What is the desired suction CFM?

Thanks and God Bless
Mike
