Kirinite Pepper Jade bowie WIP

I did another couple of coats of ferric chloride and glued the welt to the back. Polished the stud and made a bolt, skived the back and a cover piece.
Next is to seal the inside and glue up.

Glued the front on and sealed the inside, left the strap a little wet so it would slide and had to reglue it, it's nice and tight and came out the way I hoped.

One other small tip that will help you with your grinding is to use empty tape roll card boards or slices of Carpet roll centers or any other 4-6" round on those wooden pegs you are hanging your grinding belts on. This keeps the wooden pins from putting stress's in the belts that can give you little marks as the belts rotate while grinding.

Ooohh, that is a great tip. Will do that this weekend.

I rough shaped the sheath with a 36g belt on the KMG then hand sanded the edges with 400g. layed in the stitch groove and marked with a stitch wheel then went to the drill press and stitched it up.

get j-flex belts for 120 - 400 grit. they will bend and wrap over the platen or wheel so you can really clean plunge cuts. Just be careful with them...
