So, for a while I've heat treated my own practice knives (2 years worth) mostly O1 and 1084 but lately I've had a hankering for using more exotic steels. Contingent on a shipment, the steels in question will be M4, 154CM, Elmax, 52100, and CPM3V. Currently, funds, or there lack of, are holding me back from purchasing a kiln ( finally decided on a paragon ), so a good cost effective 3rd party would be great. Thanks.

I have an oven and I still use Peter's, for all of my 3v blades at least. The batch load can be a hurdle if you want to get the lowest cost per blade, but if you can send 10 or so blades at a time (of a given steel type) it works out.

its not a company but I send mine to Micheal O'machearley, he is affordable and from all I have heard he does a great job.
its $8 for carbon steel and $10 for stainless, he even does differential HT.
